§ 11-4-2. Insurance and bond requirements.

  • A.

    No permit shall be issued to allow the construction, removing or repairing of any public way, or any part thereof, until the applicant for such permit has filed with the Director of Code Enforcement a Certificate of Insurance, and License and Permit Bond.

    B.

    Insurance -

    1.

    Comprehensive general liability insurance for one person in the sum of $100,000.00 per occurrence and a minimum aggregate of $300,000.00. All contractors performing underground work must provide proof of underground (XCU) liability insurance and automobile coverage as listed below.

    2.

    Automobile liability insurance coverage requirements.

    a.

    Coverage limits for vehicles rated at a gross vehicle weight of one ton or less:

    1)

    $250,000.00 per individual/$500,000.00 per accident/$250,000.00 property damage limits of personal automobile coverage; or

    2)

    $500,000.00 combined single limit of commercial automobile coverage.

    b.

    Coverage limits for vehicles rated at greater than one ton gross vehicle weight require $1,000,000.00 combined single limit of commercial automobile coverage.

    3.

    If applicable, worker's compensation (per Illinois statutory limits).

    4.

    Coverage of subcontractors, if any used, in the amounts stated above.

    5.

    Provisions that the above insurance policies shall not be cancelled without first giving ten days written notice to the Director of Code Enforcement.

    6.

    License and Permit Bond in the amount of $10,000.00.
