§ 8-11-1. General business premises licenses.

  • A.

    Definition. "General Business Premises" shall mean those professions, occupations, businesses and/or commercial establishments doing business within the Village, including a building or premises or portion thereof. For the purpose of fees, if the principal use is licensed under another section of this Chapter 8, the fees for general business premises licenses (otherwise licensed) shall apply. If the principal use is not licensed under another section of this Chapter 8 and the use is for the practice of medicine or dentistry or similar type of medical professional personal services, the practice of law, financial institution or any other business, the regulation of which is conducted exclusively by the State of Illinois, the fees for general business premises licenses (not otherwise licensed) shall apply.

    B.

    License Required. It shall be unlawful to operate or occupy a general business premises as herein defined without having obtained a license therefor.

    C.

    Application. An application for a general business premises license shall be made in conformity with the general requirements of this Chapter relating to applications for licenses.

    D.

    Regulations. The applicant shall comply with all applicable regulations of the Department of Code Enforcement, Police Department and Fire Department, including the right of inspection.

    E.

    Exclusions. The terms and provisions of this Chapter shall not be made applicable to any activity carried on or operated by a government institution.
