§ 12-4-2. Rates for water and sewer service.

A.

There shall be and there are hereby established rates or charges for the use of and for the water service supplied by the system of the Village of Hoffman Estates within the Village limits and for the sewer service supplied by the Village of Hoffman Estates based upon the base rate and the amount of water consumption billed, as shown on the water meters:

When several non-residential units, each with water usage of less than fifteen thousand (15,000) gallons per month, are included in one building under single ownership, they may, at the Director of Public Works' option, be served by a single service and a single meter and will then be billed to a single address. In such cases, the minimum charges and the quantities of water at each rate shall be multiplied by the number of non-residential units being served by that service.

B.

There shall be an established charge for turning on water service and shutting off water service, payable in advance, for the service supplied by the system of the Village of Hoffman Estates as follows:

During Water Department Business Hours: (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. —Mon.—Fri.)

Water turn on ..... $15.00

Water shut off ..... 15.00

At All Other Times:

Water turn on ..... $40.00

Water turn off ..... 40.00

Water turn on and turn off after hours if within a two-hour period ..... 50.00

C.

A fee of five percent shall be added to any bill for the current billing cycle for water and sewer service if it remains unpaid for a period of 20 days from the date of mailing the bill.

D.

A penalty of $10.00 for any check returned for non-sufficient funds shall be added to any bill for which attempted prior payment was made by such non-sufficient check.

E.

Residential users of only the sanitary system within the Village of Hoffman Estates shall be charged a rate of $100.00 per year per unit. Residential users under Section 12-1-2-P of only the sanitary sewer system not within the limits of the Village of Hoffman Estates shall be charged a rate of $150.00 per year, per unit.
